Father of Nova Massacre Victim Attacked in Acre Market

Natan Kuperwasser, father of Shani Kuperwasser who was murdered at the Nova music festival, was physically assaulted in the Old City of Acre market on Saturday. Kuperwasser was walking with his family and dog when a stray dog allegedly attacked his pet. According to Kuperwasser, two young men, brothers over 1.90 meters tall, intervened and allegedly attempted to sic their pit bull on him and his dog following the initial canine altercation. Kuperwasser stated that verbal abuse preceded the physical assault, during which he was punched several times. He managed to escape and called the police, but claims the assailants pursued him and continued the attack. The police quickly apprehended the two suspects, residents of Old Acre in their 20s, using intelligence and surveillance footage. Their remand has been extended until September 7. Kuperwasser, who was not seriously injured, declined medical attention and opted to file a police report. He expressed surprise at the speed of the investigation and the technology used. Despite the incident, Kuperwasser urged against generalizing the attack as nationalistic, calling the perpetrators "pure criminals." He hopes the punishment reflects the potential severity of the attack, not just the outcome. His daughter, Shani, 27, was killed by Hamas terrorists in a shelter near Re'im after leaving the Nova party, following which her body was identified after four days of uncertainty.
