Political Analyst Warns Ofer Winter's Party May End His Career

Political analyst Shlomo Filber has issued a stark warning regarding the political future of retired Brigadier General Ofer Winter and his new party, "Am Yisrael." In an interview with Channel 14, Filber, who previously managed polls for the Likud party, analyzed Winter's declining standing in surveys.

Filber stated that Winter's recent strategic moves, particularly placing Joseph Haddad in the second spot on his party's list, have failed to generate the desired impact among right-wing voters. While the intention was to attract new audiences, Filber observed that "a person alone does not drag a party or people where they want to take them." He drew parallels to past political maneuvers by Yuli Edelstein and Gilad Erdan, suggesting that right-wing voters prioritize the unity of their political bloc over prominent individual names.

Furthermore, Filber highlighted that Winter's refusal to commit to joining a broader right-wing bloc is causing apprehension. The public, he explained, views the victory of the right-wing as paramount. Winter's primary obstacle, beyond struggling to reach the electoral threshold, is his ideological stance. Filber noted Winter's public declarations that he will not unite with parties that were part of the government during the October 7th events.

Filber concluded with a severe caution: "Theoretically, it could be that Winter has decided to go all the way with his declaration, thereby eliminating his political career. If he goes it alone and ultimately falls below the electoral threshold, then he will be an interesting episode that passed."
