Veteran Israeli Musician Berry Sakharof Releases Surprise New Album

Veteran Israeli musician Berry Sakharof has released a new solo album, "Sullam Ha'ahava" (Ladder of Love), his first full-length solo effort in 15 years. Sakharof surprised fans during a performance at the "Ko Rakia" complex in Tel Aviv on Thursday night, announcing that the album would be released at midnight. "Tonight at midnight, something happens that excites me very much," Sakharof told the audience. "After 15 years that I haven't made a whole album of my own, a new album called 'Sullam Ha'ahava' is coming out."

Immediately after the announcement, he performed one of the album's songs, which became available on music platforms later that night. The album features ten songs recorded over the past three years, including material that began developing even earlier. Some recordings were made during the "Swords of Iron" war, and the period of the album's creation is present in some of the lyrics and musical choices.

Seven of the album's songs were produced by musician and bassist Ben Hendler, who has worked with Sakharof for over two decades. Oren Lutenberg, Nadav Hollander, and Yonatan Daskal participated in the production of the additional songs. The album maintains Sakharof's signature sound, blending rock, electronica, and Eastern influences.

"Sullam Ha'ahava" arrives 15 years after Sakharof's last full solo album, "You Are Here," released in 2011. While he has not been idle in the intervening years, releasing "Likutim" (Collections) in 2016, a collaboration with Ehud Banai in 2017, and working with other artists like Dudu Tassa, this marks his return to a complete solo project.
