The transfer of 19 draft dodgers, who were arrested after the break-in at the home of Supreme Court Justice Noam Sohlberg, to a military prison led today, Wednesday, to protests breaking out across Jerusalem and other locations. The transfer of the yeshiva students to the military prison is what sparked the anger of the Jerusalem Faction and led to the wave of protests.

The protest sites today include Russian Compound in Jerusalem, Nitzan Prison in Ramla, Hadarim Prison in the north and Sharon area, Highway 4 between Ra'anana and Netanya, as well as Abu Kabir in the center. Police spokesman said its forces are operating in the Russian Compound area following dozens of protesters attempting to block the movement of vehicles transporting detainees from the nearby detention center.

Police are increasing forces at the scene in an effort to disperse the rioters, but it appears that today's protests are only preparation for tomorrow. The Jerusalem Faction published a harsh "evacuation notice", similar to IDF notices from Lebanon, in which it announced an escalation of the protest following the "hunt against Torah scholars."

According to the notice, Rabbi Auerbach and the heads of the yeshivas instructed people to go out for a determined and uncompromising protest against the persecution of Torah students. The demonstrations will take place tomorrow in the afternoon hours at a series of strategic transportation hubs in the central region, and are expected to paralyze the main transportation arteries of the Gush Dan area and its surroundings.

The Committee for the Rescue of the World of Torah said it would stand "like a solid wall against the shameful hunt", and that the dictatorial attempt "to break the spirit of the protesters through arrests, stun grenades and violence, including the use of the Shin Bet, will not deter them." Jerusalem Faction sources clarified that the latest developments will lead to a significant escalation in the protest, and sent a sharp message: "The הארץ will burn, everywhere, at any time."
