Thailand Halves Visa-Free Stay for Israeli Tourists to 30 Days

Thailand will reduce the visa-free stay period for Israeli tourists from 60 days to 30 days, effective September 15, according to a new regulation published in the country's official gazette. Travelers arriving on or before September 14 will still be eligible for the 60-day stay, and Israelis already in Thailand will retain their original departure dates. Israel is among approximately 60 countries and territories affected by this change, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, India, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, and most European nations.

Tourists wishing to stay longer than 30 days can apply for a single extension of up to 30 days through Thai immigration services, though this extension is not automatic and subject to authorities' approval. Those planning longer stays from the outset will need to apply for an appropriate tourist visa before their departure.

The new regulation also limits visa-free entries via land to two per calendar year. While this restriction typically does not apply to air arrivals, authorities are increasing scrutiny on foreigners who repeatedly leave and re-enter the country to extend their stays. Thai officials state these measures aim to combat prolonged stays under the guise of tourism, illegal work, and criminal activities, asserting that no specific country's nationals are being targeted.
