Netanyahu's Wife, TV Channel Face Lawsuit Over Remarks

Amir Sade, one of the defendants in the case involving flares thrown at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's residence, has sent a legal warning to Sara Netanyahu and Channel 14. Sade alleges that statements made by Netanyahu during an interview on the channel constitute defamation and has demanded a correction and removal of the publications. If his demands are not met, Sade threatens lawsuits totaling 4.5 million shekels.

In the interview, Sara Netanyahu discussed the four defendants in the flare incident, claiming they "shot bombs at us" with the "intention to kill." She described the event as sabotage and terrorism, stating it involved a "phosphorus bomb" that "burns and kills," and that a security guard could have been "burned inside" had the projectile deviated by centimeters.

The legal warning asserts that these statements falsely attribute attempted murder, terrorism, and the use of phosphorus weapons to Sade. It emphasizes that Sade has no prior criminal record, is presumed innocent, and that his legal proceedings are ongoing. Sade's attorney, Gonnen Ben-Yitzhak, stated that the court has already determined the claims made in the interview to be untrue.

The demands include for Channel 14 to remove the interview and related clips from its digital platforms. Sara Netanyahu is required to issue a public apology clarifying that no bombs or phosphorus were involved and that the incident was not terrorism or an attempted murder. Sade is seeking 1.5 million shekels from Netanyahu, an equal amount from Channel 14, and an additional 1.5 million shekels from "Digital Now 14."
