Netanyahu's Wife Rejects Golan's Apology Demand, Files Counter-Lawsuit

Sara Netanyahu, wife of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has refused to apologize to Yair Golan, leader of the Democratic Party, and has instead threatened him with a lawsuit. The exchange began when Golan sent Netanyahu a legal warning, accusing her of spreading "false and defamatory statements" and conspiracy theories about his actions on October 7th, demanding an apology within 24 hours. In response, Sara Netanyahu called Golan's accusations "wild lies" and demanded public apologies from him for misrepresenting her words. She also sought an apology for an incident on March 1, 2023, where anti-government protesters allegedly "besieged and unlawfully detained" her at a Tel Aviv hair salon. Netanyahu is demanding Golan remove defamatory posts and pay her 100,000 shekels within 48 hours as compensation, which she intends to donate to a pre-military academy in the Eli settlement. She warned that if he fails to comply, she will sue him for 1 million shekels.
