Netanyahu's Wife, Channel 14 Sued for $1.2 Million Over Remarks

Amir Sade, one of the defendants in the flare-firing case, is planning to sue Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's wife, Sara Netanyahu, and Channel 14 for 4.5 million shekels (approximately $1.2 million). Sade alleges that Sara Netanyahu made defamatory statements about him and the other defendants during a Channel 14 interview, attributing to them attempted murder, terrorism, and the use of phosphorus weapons.

In the interview, Netanyahu stated that the individuals involved "shot bombs at us" with the "intention to kill," describing the act as "exactly terrorism" and a "phosphorus bomb that burns and kills." She further claimed that a security guard would have been burned had the projectile deviated by only centimeters.

Sade's attorney, Ben Yitzhak, asserts that these statements falsely accuse his client of attempted murder, terrorism, and using phosphorus weapons. He argues this constitutes severe slander against an individual presumed innocent while his legal case is ongoing. The attorney's notice letter reportedly details court findings that contradict Netanyahu's claims, stating the court determined there were no bombs, no phosphorus, no terrorism, and no intent to kill.

In addition to the financial damages, Sade is demanding that Channel 14 remove the interview and all related clips from its digital platforms. Sara Netanyahu is also required to issue a full public apology clarifying that no bombs were used, no phosphorus was involved, and the incident did not constitute terrorism or an attempted murder.
