Israel Seizes 55 Tons of Contraband Dairy Products in Atarot Raid

Israeli authorities conducted a major operation in the Atarot industrial zone, confiscating approximately 55 tons of illicit dairy products and salads intended for sale before upcoming holidays. The raid, which occurred early in the morning, targeted illegal imports from the Palestinian Authority.

During the inspection of a warehouse, officials encountered resistance from the person in charge, who refused entry, necessitating the forced opening of the doors. Inside, inspectors discovered three refrigerated trucks fully loaded with products ready for distribution to retail outlets.

The seized items included milk, yogurts, sour cream, cheeses, dairy drinks, and various salads and hummus. Due to a lack of veterinary control and improper storage conditions, the entire shipment was deemed unsafe for consumption.

Those responsible were questioned at the scene and will face further proceedings. The confiscated goods were sent for destruction. A ministry official emphasized that such unregulated supplies pose a direct risk to consumers, as the health of the animals and the maintenance of temperature control during transport cannot be verified.

The ministry urged the public to purchase perishable goods only from authorized and reputable stores. Information regarding potential tax violations has been forwarded to the tax authorities.
