Sied Abufarhi's Father Reveals European Interest Before MLS Move

Sied Abufarhi, a promising young forward who rose to prominence with Maccabi Tel Aviv, has officially transferred to the Colorado Rapids in Major League Soccer (MLS) for a reported $6 million. His father, Mohammed Abufarhi, spoke about the move in an interview, expressing his son's excitement and the positive reception he has received in the United States.

Mohammed Abufarhi stated that Sied is very happy and thrilled about the new chapter in his career. He noted that his son, who grew up in Maccabi Tel Aviv's youth system from the age of 8, is adapting well to the new environment, facilities, and the club's unique development plan. The elder Abufarhi also mentioned that Sied, who has lived independently since age 14, is mature enough to handle the transition to life in America.

During the interview, Mohammed Abufarhi disclosed that several European clubs, including Stuttgart and Leipzig from Germany's Bundesliga, and Torino along with another unnamed club from Italy's Serie A, had shown interest in signing Sied. However, these clubs were unwilling to meet Maccabi Tel Aviv's asking price, which he described as "a bit high." He believes Sied will eventually play in Europe within two years, noting the strong connection between the Colorado Rapids and Arsenal, as the Rapids' professional staff originates from England.

Reflecting on Sied's recent period with Maccabi Tel Aviv, his father highlighted the player's exceptional maturity. Despite the transfer speculation, the 20-year-old forward remained focused on playing until the very last minute, even offering to play as a goalkeeper in his final match if needed. The transfer process itself was swift, with the agent informing the father of the flight details just hours before departure.
