US Club Colorado Rapids Buys Israeli Prospect for $6 Million

Israeli soccer player Seyd Abu Farchi has officially signed with the Colorado Rapids in the United States, with the club paying Maccabi Tel Aviv a reported $6 million for the transfer. Abu Farchi, who rose to prominence with Maccabi Tel Aviv, expressed excitement and nervousness about his new chapter in America.

His father, Mohammed Abu Farchi, shared in an interview that Seyd is very happy and thrilled about the move, describing it as a new environment for him. Having grown up with Maccabi Tel Aviv since age 8, this marks his first experience with another club. Mohammed noted that Seyd has been positively received by the Rapids, who have big plans for him and possess excellent facilities.

Mohammed also revealed that other European clubs, including Stuttgart and Leipzig from Germany's Bundesliga, and Torino and another unnamed club from Italy's Serie A, had shown interest. However, their offers did not meet Maccabi Tel Aviv's asking price, which was considered too high by these clubs. The Colorado Rapids' offer was deemed irresistible and was accepted by Maccabi Tel Aviv, with the player's family entrusting the club to negotiate the deal.

Mohammed expressed confidence that Seyd will eventually move to Europe within two years, noting that the Colorado Rapids share ownership with Arsenal and have a professional staff primarily from England. He highlighted Seyd's maturity at 20 years old, stating that the young player focused on playing until the very last minute, even offering to play as a goalkeeper in his final match for Maccabi Tel Aviv.
