Three Suspects Arrested in Ashkelon Before Alleged Robbery
Ashkelon police said they foiled an attempted robbery on Monday evening and arrested three suspects shortly afterward. The operation involved detectives from the Ashkelon police station and fighters from the Sahar Brigade, who received a report about suspicious activity on Bialik Street in Ashkelon.
According to police, several suspects arrived at the scene carrying attack tools, then left in a vehicle. The officers quickly tracked down the suspected car in the city and stopped it for inspection, finding three suspects inside.
A search of the suspects uncovered a brass knuckle, a box cutter, and a kitchen knife. Police also found three more knives in the car, a knife combined with a brass knuckle, suspected narcotics, packing materials, and a sharp object believed to be used for smashing windows.
All three were taken to the Ashkelon police station for questioning. Station commander Lt. Cmdr. Eldad Elishiv said the rapid response by his detectives and the Sahar Brigade led to the disruption of the incident and the suspects’ arrest soon after the report, preventing further possible harm to public safety.
