Beitar Jerusalem Opens Training Camp, Waits on Dor Peretz and Other Transfer Targets
Beitar Jerusalem will begin training today for the new season under head coach Almog Cohen, assisted by Aviram Baruchyan and Moshe Ohayon. The squad will be incomplete, because several players were granted extra rest days. Captain Yarden Shua also received more time off, but chose to come to the opening session.
Tomorrow, Beitar will learn its opponent in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League, when the draw for the competition takes place. The club is also dealing with roster changes, as Ailson Tavares still has a contract in Jerusalem and is listed among the team’s eight foreign players, but is expected to leave soon. Ironi Tiberias wants to sign him, yet he has several offers from Europe and currently prefers to leave Israel.
In midfield, Beitar is waiting a few more days for Dor Peretz. If there is no progress, the club plans to move for a more defensive option, and in that case it is expected to open talks with Dan Glazer. Glazer is under contract with Kairat until December and would need to secure a release.
Beitar also wants Sean Weissman for the attack, but if he does not begin negotiations with the club soon, other options will be considered. For now, the search is focused on the Israeli market.
