Itamar Fleishman Tells the Left to Stop Playing Victim
On Monday night’s broadcast of Channel 14’s “The Patriots,” commentator Itamar Fleishman sharply criticized figures on the Israeli left. He said they were using Donald Trump’s deal with Iran as an opportunity to attack Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu politically.
Fleishman focused on the language he said appears in left-wing social media posts, arguing that many of them begin by casting the writer as the victim. “Why does every post have to start with how I am a victim?” he asked, saying they present themselves as “poor things” who are being attacked online.
He also referred to “a writer on Eretz Nehederet,” but did not elaborate further. Fleishman urged these critics to stop adopting that posture and instead respond to criticism directly.
“Grow a little backbone, learn to take it,” he said, adding, “Everything is fine and you are not victims.” His message was that political criticism should be faced substantively rather than by portraying oneself as persecuted.
