Hapoel Haifa Nears Loan Deal for Youth Scoring Leader Itay Zafrani
Hapoel Haifa is close to finalizing a loan move for Itay Zafrani, the 19-year-old striker from Maccabi Tel Aviv who led the Israeli youth Premier League in scoring last season. Drafts ahead of the signing have already been exchanged, and the deal is expected to be for one season.
Zafrani scored 25 goals this season and helped Maccabi Tel Aviv win the youth league championship after a title race that went down to the final round against Hapoel Tel Aviv. The arrangement will not include a purchase option for Hapoel Haifa at the end of the loan.
The two clubs maintain a good relationship, and the report notes a previous transaction in which Yoav Gerafi was loaned from Maccabi Tel Aviv to Hapoel Haifa and later bought outright by the Haifa club at the end of the season.
