Journalist Slams Yedioth Ahronoth Over Erroneous Gabby Kanikovsky Transfer Report

Journalist Noam Amir has sharply criticized Nadav Tzintzifer and the newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth for a report that incorrectly suggested midfielder Gabby Kanikovsky's return to Maccabi Tel Aviv was unlikely due to his high salary in Hungary.

Amir took to X, formerly Twitter, to express his dismay, calling the newspaper and its website's decline "unbelievable" and questioning how such an "embarrassing" story was approved for publication. His comments came after Maccabi Tel Aviv officially announced Kanikovsky's four-year contract with the club, contradicting the earlier report.

The Yedioth Ahronoth article, published before the official announcement, claimed Kanikovsky's salary of approximately 900,000 euros per season at Hungarian club Ferencváros presented a significant obstacle to his return to Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Following the official confirmation of Kanikovsky's transfer, social media users began resharing the old report, mocking Tzintzifer for his inaccurate assessment. Amir joined this criticism, highlighting the discrepancy between the report and the actual outcome, which saw the move he deemed nearly impossible come to fruition.
