Senior Gynecologist Menachem Alkalai Convicted of Rape and Sodomy by Deception

The District Court convicted senior gynecologist Prof. Menachem Alkalai of sexual offenses against patients who came to him for medical treatment. The judges said he exploited the trust the women placed in him and created a false impression that the acts were part of legitimate medical care.

According to the ruling, the case began after an investigative report by ynet prompted additional complainants to come forward. The court accepted the complainants’ claims that they had suffered sexual assault, and described nine incidents that took place between 2013 and 2021.

The judges found that the consent given for the acts had been obtained by fraud. Alkalai was convicted of rape by deception as to the nature of the act and sodomy by deception as to the nature of the act.
