Rabid female jackal found at Dogit Beach on the Sea of Galilee
Israel’s Health Ministry and Agriculture and Food Security Ministry said a rabid female jackal was captured at Dogit Beach on the Sea of Galilee, in the Golan Regional Council area.
The ministries warned anyone who had contact with the animal, or whose animals may have come into contact with it or with any stray animal in the area, between May 30 and June 13 inclusive, to urgently contact the Kinneret District Health Office at 04-6710300, or the nearest health office, to check whether preventive treatment is needed.
Parents were told to check whether their children had touched any suspicious animals and to contact the health office immediately if so.
People who were at the beach with pets were instructed to see a veterinarian as soon as possible and report that they had been at the site where the rabid jackal was trapped.
