Rabid Jackal Caught at Kinneret Beach After About 10 Bite Incidents
Israel’s Health Ministry and Agriculture Ministry said a female jackal infected with rabies was captured at Dugit Beach on the Sea of Galilee, in the Golan Regional Council area. The animal was involved in an incident in which about 10 people were bitten over the weekend.
A wildlife ranger and one other person who had contact with the jackal received preventive treatment. The ministries warned that rabies is a dangerous, fatal disease and urged anyone who had contact with animals in the area between May 30, 2026, and June 13, 2026, to urgently contact the Kinneret District Health Office at 04-6710300 or their nearest health bureau.
The Health Ministry said people may go to health offices without an appointment. In the evening and on weekends, they should go to an emergency room.
