Over 50,000 Attend Central Selichot Prayer at Western Wall in Jerusalem

More than 50,000 people participated in the fourth central Selichot prayer event held last night (Thursday) at the Western Wall plaza in Jerusalem. This brings the total number of participants in Selichot gatherings since the beginning of the Hebrew month of Elul to over 350,000 worshippers during the first half of the month alone. The Western Wall Heritage Foundation noted a significant increase in attendance this year, with thousands gathering nightly and tens of thousands attending the main events.

During the event, Mordechai (Soli) Eliav, CEO of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, led prayers alongside the large crowd for the safety of IDF soldiers and security forces, for national unity, and for the security of the State of Israel. The next central Selichot event is scheduled for the upcoming Saturday night, the 16th of Elul (August 29), at 00:15, and is expected to draw thousands more worshippers.
