Green Gulf Festival Draws 1,200 to Kishon River Park

Approximately 1,200 people participated in the "Green Gulf" family event held yesterday, during the intermediate days of Sukkot, at the Bit Fishing Port in Haifa's Kishon River Park. The event, organized by the Haifa Bay Municipal Association for Environmental Protection, featured dozens of activities, tours, and a children's play.

Activities included workshops on recycling, upcycling, carpentry, crafting with recycled materials, gardening, and vegetable fermentation. A separate area offered acrobatics and a "give and take" market for clothes and toys. Guided tours of the Kishon River, led by the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel and the Kishon River Authority, departed hourly.

The interactive play "Save the Fairy," designed for children aged 4 to 10, combined theater, puppets, music, and movement. Avihai Hanoch, Deputy Mayor of Haifa and Chairman of the Haifa Bay Municipal Association for Environmental Protection, addressed the attendees, stating, "The impressive turnout for 'Green Gulf' proves that the public wants to know and protect the nature within the metropolis. Connecting families, children, the Kishon, and environmental values is the way to make environmental protection a part of daily life." He thanked all partners for a meaningful and enjoyable day.

Dr. Lihi Shahar Berman, CEO of the Haifa Bay Municipal Association for Environmental Protection, commented, "The approximately 1,200 participants demonstrate the power of environmental initiatives that connect knowledge, experience, and community. Encountering the Kishon and the content offered throughout the day allows children and adults to learn about their surroundings and strengthen their responsibility to protect it." The association expressed gratitude to all partners, including member municipalities, the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel, the Kishon River Authority, and the staff who assisted in organizing the event, as well as the public for their participation. The association plans to continue hosting environmental and community initiatives to connect the public with nature, promote awareness, and foster shared responsibility.
