Iran Declares Strait of Hormuz Will Remain Closed Until War Ends and Blockade Lifts

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Qaribabadi stated that despite an understanding reached with Oman, the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed as long as the ongoing war continues. He explained that a temporary passage about 11 kilometers wide has been agreed upon, with negotiations for a new permanent route planned within 30 to 60 days. Qaribabadi emphasized that reopening the strait depends on the end of the war on all fronts, lifting of the blockade, and resolution of Yemen's fate. He also warned that any American minesweepers entering the area would be considered primary targets.
