In a recent podcast episode of "Olim LaRegel," Maor Kandil revealed that preliminary discussions took place between Eli Dasa's representatives and Maccabi Tel Aviv's sporting director, Steve Vahranen, regarding a potential return of the defender to the club. These talks occurred over the summer but did not progress into formal negotiations. According to Kandil, Vahranen conveyed that the club initially considered bringing Dasa back to avoid overspending the budget. However, financial differences became apparent, and it was clear that Maccabi Tel Aviv would not make an offer that Dasa would seriously consider. As a result, the talks ended without any official proposal or negotiation.

Kandil emphasized that Maccabi Tel Aviv does need a player like Dasa, especially if current attacking fullback Roy Revivo departs. He described Dasa as a player capable of changing the entire game. Despite the interest, the financial gap remains a barrier to the transfer at this time.

The podcast episode was published on August 25, 2026, by Sport 5, and included a discussion on the club's defensive needs and the potential impact of Dasa's return. Fans and analysts continue to watch for any developments regarding Maccabi Tel Aviv's squad adjustments ahead of the new season.
