Altalena Ship Found 20 Km Off Israeli Coast at 503 Meters Depth

The Altalena ship has been located 20 kilometers off the coast of Israel at a depth of 503 meters. The search operation, which began after two years of planning and coordination including weather assessments, is estimated to cost around one million shekels. The ship was detected using sonar technology, which employs sound waves to navigate and map underwater objects, as divers cannot reach such depths. Experts believe that recovering the ship is unlikely, as no vessel has ever been successfully retrieved from a depth of half a kilometer.
