On the morning of August 23, 2026, a 24-year-old Israeli man was moderately injured in a suspected stabbing attack near the village of Auja in the Jordan Valley. The victim was stabbed in the shoulder and received medical treatment from Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency teams before being evacuated to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. The man was conscious throughout and his condition was reported as moderate.
Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and police forces from the Judea and Samaria district are actively searching for the assailant, who fled the scene. The search operation includes large IDF forces, roadblocks, and aerial support. Initial reports indicate the attacker was dressed in civilian clothes and passed near a store on the road to the village where the stabbing occurred.
This incident follows a stabbing attack last month in the Alon Moreh area of Samaria, where a 51-year-old Israeli was seriously wounded. According to a military source, the current stabbing may have erupted during a confrontation after Israeli civilians attempted to extinguish a fire allegedly set by Palestinians from the nearby village of Beit Furik.
The IDF has deployed a special unit to conduct thorough searches in the area as investigations continue into the circumstances of the attack.
