Israeli athlete Uri Zerbel made history by winning the gold medal and becoming the under-18 world champion at the MMA World Championship held in Abu Dhabi. This victory came just a day after Israeli Olympic gymnast Artyom Dolgopyat secured his third European championship title. Zerbel, who previously earned a bronze medal at the European Championship, defeated a Russian opponent in the final to claim the world title, marking a first for both himself and Israeli boxing. After the competition, Zerbel expressed pride in representing Israel on the global stage and winning another medal for his country.
In addition to Zerbel's success, Israeli female boxer Yulia Shlezinger also earned a bronze medal in the under-18 category at the prestigious championship. Shlezinger's first match ended in a technical victory after her opponent, representing the Palestinian team, refused to compete against her. These achievements highlight a significant moment for Israeli combat sports on the international scene.
