West Ham United, aiming to return to the Premier League after a one-year absence, suffered a 2-1 loss to Charlton Athletic at London Stadium on August 22, 2026. Israeli player Manor Solomon was active throughout the match, creating multiple chances, but his team failed to capitalize. The defeat leaves West Ham with only one point after two league matches.

The match started poorly for West Ham, as Charlton took the lead in the 7th minute when Lloyd Jones scored a spectacular overhead kick. Solomon nearly equalized with a strong shot that was blocked and went out for a corner. In the second half, West Ham’s struggles deepened when Konstantinos Mavropanos lost possession carelessly, allowing Tyrese Campbell to double Charlton’s lead.

West Ham’s new signing Joel Piro scored in the 74th minute to reduce the deficit. In stoppage time, Toti Castanos had a chance to equalize from the penalty spot but missed, hitting the crossbar. This disappointing start to the season leaves West Ham still searching for their first win, despite Solomon’s promising individual performance.
