Hungarian club Ferencváros is pursuing Basem Zaaroura from Israeli team Maccabi Netanya following the sale of Mohammed Abu Fani to Red Star Belgrade and the likely departure of Gabi Kanichovsky back to Israel. The Hungarian side has identified Zaaroura as a prime candidate to join their squad, demanding a transfer fee of at least 2 million euros for the player. Kanichovsky's exit appears imminent after he was benched in Ferencváros' recent match and is reportedly close to signing with Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Zaaroura had a strong previous season with Netanya, making 24 appearances and scoring 10 goals. He has also featured in the Toto Cup this season, continuing his good form into the 2026/27 campaign. The developments suggest a continuation of Israeli player involvement at Ferencváros, following Abu Fani's transfer and Kanichovsky's expected move.

The transfer negotiations highlight Ferencváros' strategy to maintain Israeli talent within their ranks while adjusting their squad for the new season. Maccabi Netanya is positioned to benefit financially from Zaaroura's potential move abroad, reflecting the growing market for Israeli players in European football.
