Couple Holds Wedding at Jerusalem Hospital to Include Hospitalized Mother

מאת יאיר כהן

The story · English

Michal and Tal had planned their wedding for the following year, but circumstances changed when Michal's mother, Chana, was hospitalized in the surgical intensive care unit at Shaare Zedek Medical Center, requiring continuous oxygen support. Faced with the dilemma of how to ensure Chana could be present on their special day, the couple decided to move the wedding date forward and hold the ceremony at the hospital instead of a traditional venue. With the help of the hospital staff and respiratory care unit, Chana was fitted with a portable oxygen device and escorted to the family area, allowing her to be with her daughter and family during the wedding. Although it was not the wedding they had originally envisioned, the event gained a profound significance, highlighting the importance of loved ones’ presence over the location.

In a separate story, an elderly man who came to repair his old mobility scooter was surprised when the shop owner, moved by his situation, purchased a brand-new scooter for him at no cost. This generous act significantly improved the man’s mobility and independence.

Additionally, at a Castro store in Haifa Mall, saleswomen quietly paid 200 shekels for a young blind man who struggled to complete his purchase due to card payment issues. They did so discreetly to preserve his dignity, and only revealed the gesture after he left, moved to tears by their kindness.

These stories reflect acts of compassion and humanity in challenging situations, emphasizing the value of empathy and support within the community.
