Egyptian sources report that Jared Kushner's recent diplomatic efforts failed to advance Gaza issues, with the US unwilling to deepen involvement or prioritize reconstruction. Cairo is disappointed by Washington's acceptance of the status quo and limited humanitarian aid approach, conditioned on Hamas's disarmament. Agreements include US-led destruction of Hamas weapons and monitoring mechanisms, but no reconstruction will start before full disarmament.

  • Egyptian sources say US shows no interest in major Gaza changes or reconstruction now.
  • US conditions aid and reconstruction on Hamas disarming and ceasing military actions.
  • Egypt disappointed by US acceptance of indefinite status quo and limited Israeli strikes.
  • Committees formed to monitor Gaza military situation lack clear Israeli commitments.
  • Kushner met Netanyahu; agreed Hamas weapons go to US force for destruction first.
  • No Gaza reconstruction will begin before Hamas fully disarms, per Israeli sources.

Egyptian sources have expressed disappointment following Jared Kushner's recent diplomatic visits, reporting no significant progress on Gaza-related disputes, according to the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar. After Kushner's meetings, Egyptian intelligence reportedly submitted a report to President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi stating that Washington is not interested in making substantial changes in Gaza or prioritizing its reconstruction at this stage. The report cites concerns over funding difficulties and Israeli fears regarding the continued existence of tunnels and weapons in Gaza.

The Egyptian report highlights that the US prefers limited humanitarian aid and preparation of certain areas for displaced residents without initiating any reconstruction unless Hamas fully disarms and ceases all military activities. Cairo was particularly disappointed by the US's lack of opposition to an indefinite extension of the current status quo, which Washington perceives as relatively calm with limited Israeli strikes.

Egypt continues to oppose allowing large numbers of Palestinians to leave Gaza, a topic indirectly raised during recent talks. To monitor the military situation and prevent unrestricted Israeli strikes, committees were agreed upon, though these lack clear Israeli commitments or guarantees. Meanwhile, Kushner held a lengthy meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other officials, where it was agreed that Hamas's weapons would initially be handed over to a US force for destruction, not to the Palestinian Authority.

Despite some agreements, Kushner reportedly expressed frustration with Netanyahu's stance, as Israeli targeted killings in Gaza are expected to continue. US President Donald Trump earlier suggested Israel should refrain from attacks since Hamas agreed to disarm. However, Israeli sources emphasized that no reconstruction will begin before Hamas's complete disarmament and that the US-led force, commanded by General Jeffries, will handle weapon destruction. Israel will also permit groundwater purification efforts to improve Gaza's humanitarian conditions.
