Iran sharply criticized U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of an "Economic D-Day," which aims to intensify economic pressure on the Islamic Republic. Iranian officials dismissed the move as a continuation of what they call Washington’s failed military campaign against Iran and predicted that the economic pressure would also fail. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described the Economic D-Day as a distraction from the U.S.'s own unprecedented debt and rising interest costs, warning that doubling down on failed policies would only lead to further defeat and hostility from Iranians.

Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi mocked the U.S. claim that Iran is on the brink of collapse, accusing Washington of repeatedly creating bigger failures to cover up miscalculations. Former Iranian negotiator Mohammad Marandi threatened to damage the economies of countries cooperating with the U.S., framing Iran’s defensive actions as legitimate against what he called Zionist attempts to erase the Iranian nation.

A spokesman for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Hossein Mohebbi, emphasized Iran’s ongoing military advancements, promising more precise and destructive weaponry if conflict resumes. Iranian parliament member Ebrahim Rezaei called for a strong response to U.S. economic pressure, including Iran’s withdrawal from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

State-affiliated Iranian media downplayed the significance of Trump’s announcement, portraying it as another failed attempt to pressure Tehran following an unsuccessful military campaign. They highlighted America’s own economic struggles, including a $40 trillion debt, and warned that Trump’s miscalculations regarding Iran’s resilience could turn Economic D-Day into another strategic defeat for the U.S.
