India Warns Israel Against Pressuring Its Iran Ties Amid Regional Security Concerns
A senior Indian official has issued a rare public rebuke to Israel, emphasizing that while India considers Israel a friend, it will not subordinate its national interests to Israeli demands. The official highlighted India's strategic refusal to abandon its relationship with Iran, citing the formation of a new regional alliance between Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan as a serious concern for New Delhi.
The official explained that Iran serves as a crucial counterbalance to Pakistan, which India views as its primary security threat alongside China. He pointed out that Pakistan possesses 180 nuclear warheads, contrasting this with Israel's perception of Iran as an existential threat despite Iran lacking nuclear weapons. He criticized Israel for not showing similar concern over Pakistan's nuclear arsenal, which poses a direct threat to India.
Further, the official detailed the close military cooperation between Turkey and Pakistan, including Turkish provision of nearly a thousand drones and operational support during Pakistan's "Sindur" operation.
