Israel Must Build Strategic Alliance Network Amid Turkey-Saudi-Pakistan Defense Pact

A new defense alliance formed between Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan presents a significant strategic challenge for Israel, according to retired Colonel Amir Noy. Although the pact does not explicitly name Israel as an adversary, the combined military, economic, and nuclear capabilities of these countries require Israel to reconsider its security approach. Turkey contributes a large military with advanced defense industries and regional ambitions, Saudi Arabia offers financial resources and strategic geographic depth, and Pakistan brings a large army with operational experience and nuclear weapons.

Noy warns that Israel should not wait for a formal declaration of hostility but must recognize the potential regional power this alliance represents. The pact could serve as a deterrent against both Iran and Israel, with Turkey expanding its influence in Syria and Lebanon, potentially creating a Turkish-oriented strategic zone north and east of Israel. This scenario demands Israeli preparation for a new security reality.

Rather than pursuing war or labeling Turkey an enemy, Israel should develop a multilayered network of alliances beyond its traditional reliance on the United States. This network should include India, Greece, Cyprus, Egypt, Jordan, and potentially new partnerships in Latin America, where Israel can offer expertise in security, technology, medicine, agriculture, energy, intelligence, and counterterrorism.

Israel cannot match the alliance members in troop numbers or financial resources but can leverage its strengths in intelligence, cyber defense, air defense, early warning systems, artificial intelligence, electronic warfare, and command and control. Building such a network is crucial as the global balance of power shifts and new multidimensional alliances emerge, potentially shaping the geopolitical landscape for the coming century.

Noy emphasizes that Israel must act now to construct this strategic balance of power to avoid being caught unprepared in a rapidly changing world order.
