Apple Launches Israeli Website for Users to Claim Compensation Over iPhone Slowdown Case
Apple has launched an official Israeli website allowing users to claim compensation from a 10 million shekel settlement over the iPhone slowdown case. Eligible users must own certain older iPhone models and meet specific software and setup criteria. The settlement follows a class-action lawsuit alleging Apple deliberately slowed devices to prevent battery shutdowns without user consent.

Nearly a decade after the iPhone slowdown controversy emerged, Israeli consumers can now check their eligibility and file claims for compensation through a dedicated website launched in Israel. This follows the approval of a class-action settlement by the Tel Aviv District Court, under which Apple will allocate a total of 10 million shekels to a trust fund for affected local customers.
Eligibility for compensation requires owning one of the specified older iPhone models, including iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 7 series, or the first-generation iPhone SE, having installed iOS 10.2.1 or iOS 11.2 before December 21, 2017, and having set Israel as the device’s country during initial setup. The maximum payout per device can reach up to 1,890 shekels, though the final amount depends on the number of approved claims.
The controversy began in late 2017 when users worldwide discovered that their iPhones’ performance was deliberately slowed by software updates to prevent unexpected shutdowns caused by aging batteries. Apple admitted to this practice but faced backlash for not informing users, which led to multiple class-action lawsuits globally, including in Israel.
To submit a claim, users must provide personal details, a valid email, Apple ID, and the device’s serial number (IMEI). If the device is no longer operational or in possession, the serial number can be retrieved from the user’s iCloud account or original packaging. An alternative submission method allows entering the device model, phone number, and billing address.
Apple stated it never intended to shorten product lifespans or degrade user experience to encourage upgrades but agreed to the settlement to avoid prolonged litigation. Israeli users with affected iPhone models are encouraged to verify their eligibility and submit claims through the official website.
