Maccabi Tel Aviv announced on August 19, 2026, the sale of winger Henry Edoo to Tondela, a club in Portugal's second division. This transfer freed up one foreign player slot in the squad, but the team still retains eight foreign players, including Tyrese Asante, Mohamed Ali Kamara, Cróvin Andrade, Cristian Blitz, Issouf Sisoko, Ion Nicolescu, Helio Varela, and Esther Sokler. To sign another foreign player, Maccabi Tel Aviv must clear an additional foreign player slot. The club is currently seeking a new team for Ion Nicolescu, who is recovering from injury, and is also exploring options for Cróvin Andrade. The departure of one or both players would create the necessary space for new foreign signings. Alternatively, the club may consider suspending Nicolescu's registration temporarily, which would also free a foreign player slot without permanently releasing him. These roster adjustments are part of Maccabi Tel Aviv's strategy to manage their foreign player quota ahead of the upcoming season in the Israeli Premier League.
