Karlin-Stolin Rebbe Condemns Violence After Jerusalem Attack on Followers

The story · English

Following a violent attack on the Karlin-Stolin Rebbe and his followers in Jerusalem, the Rebbe addressed his community with a rare and firm message. The incident occurred on Avinoam Yellin Street as the Rebbe was returning from his grandson's Sheva Brachot celebration. Dozens of extremists gathered outside the synagogue, shouting hostile slogans and attempting to block the Rebbe's exit, leading to a serious confrontation between the Karlin-Stolin Hasidim and the protesters.

In his remarks after morning prayers, the Rebbe praised his followers for their dedication and courage in defending the wedding celebration against the extremists, whom he described as having "no limits." However, he strongly warned against resorting to violence, emphasizing that "violence is not the way of the Torah" and that even in the face of provocation and pain, his community must maintain purity and avoid retaliation.

This clear stance against violence resonated deeply among the Hasidim, reaffirming the Rebbe's consistent call to distance themselves from violent acts. The incident and the Rebbe's response have sparked widespread discussion within the community about maintaining peace and dignity despite ongoing tensions in Jerusalem.
