Development work has begun to reestablish the Israeli settlement of Kadim in northern Samaria, 21 years after its evacuation during the 2005 disengagement plan. Bi Drori, a leader from the original Kadim community who was evacuated at that time, addressed the young families preparing to resettle the area, reaffirming the community's long-standing commitment to return. Drori recalled the moment the Israeli flag was lowered during the evacuation and the residents’ vow to raise it again, stating, "Today has come. We are rebuilding Kadim." She also honored the original founding members who have since passed away, saying their spirit remains with the community.
The new core group consists mainly of young families from Tel Aviv and central Israel, including graduates of Zionist yeshivas and reservists recently discharged from the "Sword of Iron" military operation. These families have been organizing over recent months in preparation for the planned resettlement. The rebuilding of Kadim is part of the Shomron Regional Council's "Connection Plan," which aims to establish 19 new settlements in northern Samaria. Kadim is the fourth settlement evacuated in the disengagement to be reestablished, following Homesh, Sa-Nur, and Ganim.
Yossi Dagan, head of the Shomron Regional Council, praised the initiative, saying, "The families who were uprooted vowed to return, and today the next generation fulfills that oath. The flag that was lowered then is raised again, this time to stay. Kadim is coming home."
