Hapoel Jerusalem concluded their Toto Cup campaign with a 1-0 victory against Maccabi Haifa on August 17, securing ninth place in the preseason tournament. Despite the win, the team emphasized the match's limited significance, highlighting the importance of finishing without injuries and maintaining a clean sheet. Israel Dafa scored the decisive goal, while the defense remained solid, with new signings integrating well into the squad.
The club is now concentrating on opening the upcoming league season strongly, eagerly anticipating their first match against Maccabi Tel Aviv. They expect a sold-out crowd for the league opener, noting high ticket demand even from rival fans. New captain Omer Agbadish was included in the squad for the first time this summer but did not play, while recent signing Sharani Zubiero featured for 30 minutes.
Injuries remain a concern, with Abdulsalam Sani recovering from a thigh flexor strain and expected to resume full training soon, and Hilai Melman awaiting test results for a minor partial tear in his patellar tendon. Meanwhile, the club continues to seek a striker to complete their attacking lineup ahead of the league kickoff.
