Israeli midfielder Dia Saba started the new season in Turkey's top football league with an impressive performance, scoring two goals for his team Amedspor in their opening match against Erzurumspor. The game took place on August 16, 2026, and ended with a 3-0 victory for Amedspor. Saba, 33, who joined Amedspor last summer after helping them gain promotion from the second division, was substituted in the 77th minute.

Saba left Maccabi Haifa due to tax issues that forced him to move abroad. Last season, he scored nine goals and provided ten assists in the Turkish second division. Turkish fans and commentators praised his performance, with some saying he "sent the defender to buy watermelon at the market," a local expression highlighting his dominance on the field. Others compared him favorably to top players in the league, noting his continued high level of play.

This strong start suggests Saba is maintaining his excellent form as Amedspor competes in the Turkish top flight for the first time since his arrival. The club and fans will be hopeful he continues to be a key player throughout the season.
