Israeli police have located Mali Yahilomi, 50, and her daughter Liel, 23, residents of Modiin, in Argentina after a week-long international search. The two disappeared while in Vienna, Austria, prompting a complex cross-border investigation by the Lahav 433 unit. New details reveal that the mother and daughter meticulously planned their escape route for about a month before vanishing, using artificial intelligence tools and search engines to gather information on countries without extradition agreements with Israel and ways to avoid phone tracking.

The investigation uncovered that during their stay in the Czech Republic, they purchased a new phone without identification, and that a video Liel sent to family from Vienna was recorded on their old phone but sent only after they had left Austria for Germany. From Germany, they flew to Buenos Aires, Argentina. Israeli police tracked their movements and intercepted them on a bus just before they planned to travel further in South America.

During questioning, the women admitted they left Israel deliberately without informing family, citing financial debt as a motive. Authorities suspect a family-related background but continue to investigate. The case highlights the use of advanced technology in evading law enforcement and the challenges of international manhunts.
