Two football fans have filed a civil lawsuit against key Israeli football organizations demanding full refunds for tickets bought for a derby match canceled due to fan violence. The plaintiffs, an insurance agent and lawyer, and a mechanical engineer, attended the Hapoel vs. Maccabi Tel Aviv derby at Bloomfield Stadium on October 19, 2025, with their families. They paid a total of 2,725 shekels for five tickets, including four premium seats in the stadium's "Golden Block." Minutes before kickoff, fan unrest erupted with flares thrown onto the pitch, prompting Israeli police to cancel the match and evacuate approximately 25,000 spectators for public safety.

The lawsuit states the plaintiffs were left disappointed and sought refunds, but their requests were ignored or rejected with excuses aimed at avoiding responsibility. They are suing the ticketing company Lan, Hapoel Tel Aviv as the host club, the Israeli Football League Administration, and the Israel Football Association. Citing consumer protection laws, the plaintiffs argue they received no service or product due to the police cancellation, which was beyond their control.

Attorney Yaakov Oz, representing the plaintiffs, emphasized the responsibility of the league bodies to ensure consumers receive refunds when matches are canceled. The ticketing company Lan responded that the matter is under review.
