The story · English

On Wednesday, Europe experienced a rare natural phenomenon as a total solar eclipse was visible in Iceland, Greenland, Spain, and various parts of the continent. In Spain, the event attracted exceptional attention since the last total solar eclipse visible there occurred over a century ago. Millions of Spaniards went outdoors equipped with special eclipse glasses to safely observe the spectacle, which received extensive media coverage.

In France, a partial solar eclipse was expected, generating significant public interest in acquiring protective glasses. Despite reports of shortages, the French Deputy Interior Minister assured citizens that glasses would still be available. The eclipse's rarity in Europe, with the previous total eclipse occurring in 1999, contributed to the heightened enthusiasm and media focus.

The event was also partially visible in Israel, adding to the widespread astronomical interest across the region. Photographs from Norway and Spain captured the eclipse, highlighting the event's broad geographic impact. This eclipse marks a significant astronomical occurrence for Europe and neighboring areas, drawing millions to witness the celestial event safely.
