Israeli Health Ministry Investigates Suspected Ebola Case From Congo Returnee

The Israeli Ministry of Health reported on Tuesday a suspected case of Ebola involving a person who recently returned from the Democratic Republic of Congo. The individual developed a fever and sought medical treatment after arriving in Israel several days ago. Currently, the case remains a suspicion as the patient undergoes necessary testing, with results expected within 24 hours. The patient is being treated in isolation at Soroka Medical Center while an epidemiological investigation is underway.

The Ministry of Health urged the public to avoid non-essential travel to regions with active Ebola outbreaks, specifically Congo and Uganda. Travelers returning from these areas who develop fever or unusual symptoms within 21 days of return are advised to stay home, avoid contact with others, and contact the Ministry’s health hotline at *5400, informing them of their travel history.

Last month, two Israelis returning from Congo were also suspected of having Ebola, but subsequent tests ruled out infection. The Ministry continues to emphasize preventive measures and early reporting to contain potential cases.
