As the NBA season approaches its October start, Sports Illustrated has ranked the top offensive options for the Portland Trail Blazers for the 2026/27 season. Israeli player Deni Avdija was placed first, ahead of Damian Lillard and Ja Morant. The analysis highlighted Avdija's breakout season, where he averaged 24.2 points and 6.7 assists, earning his first All-Star selection and leading his playoff team in scoring, demonstrating his high potential.
Despite the addition of stars Lillard and Morant, Avdija is expected to remain Portland's primary offensive option. At just 25 years old, he still has room to develop, particularly by increasing catch-and-shoot attempts and improving his three-point shooting efficiency. Balancing his previous role with the new dynamic alongside two dominant guards could propel his career forward.
Ja Morant was ranked second, described as the "engine" of the offense due to his passing and driving skills, with hopes that a fresh start in Portland will help him return to his pre-injury All-Star form. Damian Lillard, a club legend, was ranked third, as the Blazers no longer require him to carry the full offensive load. Coach Mike Norrie expressed confidence in Lillard, promising him a starting role and opportunities for his signature step-back shots if he remains healthy.
The article concluded that Portland faces a "good problem" with three high-level offensive leaders, but firmly believes Avdija should continue as the team's offensive face moving forward.
