A senior official from the IDF Military Rabbinate told Channel 7 that a reserve battalion in the West Bank did not summon kosher supervisors despite repeated requests, contradicting reports that soldiers had to buy food with their own money for about two months. The official explained that the battalion refused to cooperate with the Rabbinate's demands to assign kosher supervisors during reserve duty, which led to restrictions on ordering certain kosher products requiring supervision, such as legumes and leafy greens. The battalion could have ordered vacuum-packed legumes through the military system at a small additional cost but chose not to.

In contrast, Kan 11 reported that reserve soldiers in the West Bank had to purchase dairy products and leafy greens themselves after the brigade rabbinate demanded permanent kosher supervisors at the platoon outpost, with days allocated from the battalion budget. When commanders rejected this demand, the supply of these products was halted, forcing soldiers to cover the shortfall. One commander said this was unprecedented and criticized the rabbinate's new requirement for supervisors at the outpost.

The IDF spokesperson stated that the battalion currently lacks enough kosher supervisors, preventing the supply of products requiring supervision according to regulations. The issue is under review and being addressed by commanders. Meanwhile, soldiers have been provided immediate food substitutes through the brigade, and all gaps have been managed.
