Linor Sasson Sentenced for Extortion Amid Benyahu Razi Murder Case

תורגם ותומצת מתוך Maariv על ידי baba
The story · English

Linor Sasson, accused of aiding and obstructing justice in the murder case of Benyahu Razi, was recently sentenced to 21 months in prison for extortion by threats. The conviction stems from a separate case involving illegal loan activities and intimidation of borrowers and their families. Sasson and her son, unrelated to the murder case, were charged in 2024 for providing unlicensed cash loans between 2020 and 2023, demanding excessive interest rates and using threats to collect payments.

The indictment detailed severe threats Sasson made to borrowers, including a business owner who borrowed approximately 70,000 shekels but struggled to repay the monthly interest of 500 shekels. Sasson and her son pressured him through phone calls, messages, and intimidating actions, threatening harm to him and his family. Sasson's messages included explicit threats such as "I will slaughter your mother next to you" and sending violent individuals to intimidate borrowers.

In another case, Sasson threatened a cleaning worker who owed her money, warning of sending people from Silwan and Jaljulia to harm him. Following a plea deal with the Jerusalem District Attorney's Office, Sasson admitted guilt early, sparing the victims from testifying. Her defense highlighted her acceptance of responsibility and difficult personal circumstances.

The court sentenced Sasson to 21 months imprisonment, deducting time served, imposed a 90,000 shekel fine, and confiscated 23,503 shekels from her accounts. This sentencing reveals Sasson's criminal background amid the ongoing investigation into the murder of Benyahu Razi.
