Israeli Authorities Rescue Two Severely Neglected Horses in Kiryat Ata

Two horses suffering from extreme malnutrition and poor health were rescued from a neglected facility in Kiryat Ata by inspectors from the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security. The animals were found in harsh conditions, including minimal and contaminated water supplies, no available food, and one horse confined in a locked stall padded to prevent exit, indicating prolonged isolation. The horses were immediately transferred to a protected facility for veterinary care, tailored nutrition, and rehabilitation.

This rescue followed several inspections over the past two months during which the horse owner was ordered to address multiple violations. After a follow-up inspection revealed no improvements, authorities decided to remove the horses. The Ministry of Agriculture is considering opening a criminal investigation and legal proceedings against the owner on suspicion of violating animal cruelty laws.

Moshe Aharak, head of the Ministry's Enforcement and Investigation Unit, emphasized the seriousness of keeping animals in such deplorable conditions and affirmed that inspectors will continue efforts to prevent animal suffering and hold offenders accountable. The operation was a joint enforcement effort involving the Ministry of Agriculture, veterinary authorities, and the police.
