Rabbi Moshe Tzadaka Leads Traditional Strengthening Tour in Northern Israel on Tu B'Av

The story · English

Continuing a tradition spanning over fifty years, Rabbi Moshe Tzadaka, head of the yeshiva in Jerusalem, embarked on a Tu B'Av strengthening tour in northern Israel with a group of his students and close associates. The journey began in the holy city of Safed, where Rabbi Tzadaka delivered encouraging words to local children who had completed studying the Zohar, emphasizing the importance of early Torah study. He distributed sweets to the children symbolizing the sweetness of Torah.

Following this, Rabbi Tzadaka addressed a large gathering of Safed residents opposing the looming military conscription decree targeting the Torah-observant community. He also warned about the dangers posed by modern technology and societal challenges. The main study hall was packed, with many attendees unable to enter, and participants received informational booklets opposing the conscription decree.

Later, Rabbi Tzadaka attended a celebratory meal at the Elkabetz hall in Safed, where his son-in-law, Rabbi Israel Levi, head of the Tiferet HaTorah yeshiva, spoke. The rabbi then proceeded to the sacred site of Meron for an all-night study session dedicated to Tu B'Av. At dawn, he prayed at the tomb of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, reciting the special "Ben Ish Chai" prayer composed for the site. He also prayed morning services at the nearby Sephardic synagogue and offered prayers at the tomb of Rabbi Eleazar, son of Rabbi Shimon.

The morning concluded with a festive breakfast and the completion of a tractate at the Tomer Devorah hall in Safed. Rabbi Tzadaka then prayed at the cemetery near the graves of the renowned sages Rabbi Yosef Karo and the Ari Zal, honoring their memory.

This annual pilgrimage and series of events reinforce Torah study, community solidarity, and spiritual resilience amid contemporary challenges.
