Maccabi Haifa aims to recover and return to the top of Israeli football this season.

Maccabi Haifa continued their recovery from a difficult season start by defeating Bnei Sakhnin 1-0 on August 8, 2026. The only goal of the match came in the 54th minute from Silva Cani, helping Haifa claim their second consecutive victory. Despite the win, Maccabi Haifa's performance was not particularly convincing, as the team still appeared tired and lacked dominance on the field. However, against the weakest team in the Toto Cup group stage, this result was sufficient.

The 2026/27 Maccabi Haifa squad remains uncertain in its potential, having made several new signings aimed at returning to the top of Israeli football. Their group stage in the Toto Cup was challenging, with two losses to Hapoel Haifa and Kiryat Shmona before stabilizing with this win. The team finished the group stage with two wins and two losses, which may help reduce the pressure on the club early in the season. Notably, player Bruninho impressed again, and Manuel Benson made his first appearance since May.

While Maccabi Haifa's style of play has yet to be compelling, this victory marks a small but positive step forward as they seek to improve their form and climb the league standings.
