Israel Confirms Daily Cyberattacks by Iran Amid US Water Infrastructure Assault

Following a reported cyberattack targeting water systems in the United States, Israeli authorities have acknowledged that Israel faces daily cyber threats from Iran as well. The National Cyber Directorate of Israel emphasized that the threat is not limited to the US and that Israel regularly contends with cyberattack attempts, including those aimed at its water infrastructure. Israeli officials stated they maintain continuous communication with US counterparts to share information and analyze the incident.

The Directorate revealed a concerning situation where cyberattacks against various Israeli sectors, including water systems, have become routine. Despite numerous Iranian cyberattack attempts on Israel's water sector over recent years, the Israeli cyber defense system, in cooperation with partners, has successfully prevented significant damage. In response to the US event, Israel is reassessing its preparedness in the water sector, enhancing defenses, and extracting lessons from the attack.

Israeli officials stressed the importance of rapid learning, information sharing, and implementing lessons to stay ahead of evolving threats. According to US reports, at least seven states were targeted in the suspected Iranian cyberattack on water infrastructure. US authorities are working to strengthen protections for water control systems, with no reported disruptions to water supply or quality so far.
